Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 June 2026

Tushen is a private dining house and frequently engages with hosts, principals, families, and organisations for whom discretion is essential. This policy explains how Tushen collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information, and the standards of confidentiality we apply across every engagement. It is maintained by Tushen and is intended to be read alongside our Terms of Service and any written engagement letter or booking confirmation issued for a specific occasion.

Who we are

In this policy, "Tushen", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the Tushen private dining house operating in Sydney, Australia and travelling to host events as agreed with our clients. "You" refers to a host, guest, supplier, or other individual whose personal information we hold.

Tushen handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, where relevant, the data protection laws of the jurisdiction in which an event is hosted.

Information we collect

Enquiry and booking information. When you submit an enquiry or confirm a booking, we collect your name, the name under which the booking is held, contact details (email, phone, postal address), the date and venue of the occasion, the number and identity of guests where shared with us, dietary and accessibility requirements, beverage preferences, service preferences, and the nature of the occasion.

Payment and billing information. We collect billing details, invoicing entity, and payment references. Card numbers are processed by regulated payment providers and are not stored on Tushen systems.

Correspondence. Emails, messages, call notes, and other correspondence exchanged with you or your representatives.

Venue and operational information. Access instructions, kitchen and service constraints, staff and supplier details, and any third-party requirements (for example security, household, or venue protocols) you ask us to observe.

Website information. Limited technical information about your visit to our website, including device type, browser, referrer, and pages viewed, used to keep the site reliable and secure.

Imagery. Where you engage us for an occasion at which photography or video is produced, we collect only the imagery you have authorised in writing and handle it on the terms agreed for that occasion.

Sensitive information

Allergy, intolerance, medical, religious, and dietary information is treated as sensitive. We collect it only with your consent, use it solely to plan and safely deliver your experience, and share it on a strict need-to-know basis with the chef and service team responsible for your evening.

We do not request government identifiers and ask that you do not send them to us unless we have specifically requested them for a defined purpose (for example, a venue or border requirement).

How we use your information

We use personal information to: respond to enquiries; design and cost a menu for your occasion; coordinate sourcing, logistics, and the brigade; deliver the experience on the night; invoice and account for the engagement; follow up after the event; meet legal, tax, food-safety, and insurance obligations; and improve our service through internal review.

We rely on your consent, on the performance of our engagement with you, and on our legitimate interests in running a private hospitality business. Where a lawful basis is required by applicable law and none of the above applies, we will not use your information without obtaining the appropriate basis.

Direct marketing

Tushen does not run mass marketing programs. From time to time we may contact past hosts directly with information about new offerings, seasonal menus, or experiences we believe will be relevant. You can opt out of these communications at any time by replying to any such message or contacting us using the details below.

Disclosure of information

We disclose personal information only to the extent necessary to deliver your experience or to meet a legal obligation. Categories of recipients may include: members of the Tushen chef brigade and service team; vetted suppliers (for example, produce, beverage, floristry, or styling partners) engaged for your event; venues and household, security, or event teams nominated by you; professional advisers (accountants, insurers, lawyers) under duties of confidentiality; payment and accounting providers; and government authorities where disclosure is required by law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.

Confidentiality and discretion

Discretion is a core operating principle. All Tushen personnel and engaged suppliers are subject to written confidentiality obligations covering the identity of hosts and guests, the location and nature of occasions, conversations overheard during service, and any other information observed in the course of an engagement.

We do not publish, photograph, or otherwise publicise client occasions, venues, or guests without the host's prior written consent. Where additional confidentiality measures are required, we are pleased to enter into a bespoke non-disclosure arrangement.

International transfers

Tushen is based in Australia. Some of our service providers (for example, email, accounting, and document-storage providers) may store data in other jurisdictions. Where personal information is transferred outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a manner consistent with this policy and applicable law.

Storage and security

We hold personal information in access-controlled systems and physical files, with role-based access limited to personnel who require it. We use reputable providers for email, file storage, and accounting, and we apply industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit, strong authentication, and regular review of access.

No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure. If we become aware of an eligible data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to deliver our services and to meet legal, tax, accounting, insurance, and food-safety obligations. Where information is no longer required, we securely delete or de-identify it.

Allergy and dietary records associated with a specific occasion are retained for a limited period after the event for safety, recall, and audit purposes.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request that we stop sending you communications, or withdraw a previously given consent. Subject to legal obligations, you may also request deletion of your personal information.

To make a request, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, typically within 30 days. Where we are unable to act on a request, we will explain why.

Children

Tushen does not market to children. Where children attend an occasion, we collect only the information necessary to deliver the experience safely, and only from the host or a parent or guardian.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate the site, plus limited, privacy-respecting analytics used to understand aggregate traffic patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version in force is the version published on this page, identified by the "Last updated" date above. Material changes that affect how we handle your personal information will be highlighted where appropriate.
